Common Transfer Issues

"Connecting" for a long time

The connection can't be established. Try:

  • Confirm the other person is online
  • Check your internet connection
  • Wait a moment and retry

Transfer Failed

Common causes:

  • Other party went offline
  • Network interruption
  • Disk full
  • File was moved or deleted during transfer

Slow Transfers

Transfer speed depends on:

  • Your internet upload/download speed
  • The other party's connection speed
  • Network conditions
  • File sizes
tip

Large files and folders transfer faster as a single operation rather than multiple small transfers.

Best Practices

For Reliable Transfers

  • Keep Handrive running during transfers
  • Maintain stable internet connection
  • Don't close the app during active transfers
  • Transfer during off-peak hours for better speed

For Large Transfers

  • Transfer during times you'll be online for a while
  • Consider breaking very large transfers into batches
  • Monitor progress in the transfer history

Queue Behavior

When you initiate multiple transfers:

  • They may run in parallel or queue
  • Active transfers show real-time progress
  • Pending transfers wait their turn

Transfer and Offline

If you go offline during a transfer:

  • The transfer pauses or fails
  • Reconnect to resume or restart
  • Partial files may need to be re-transferred
